On June 6, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology issued 5G licenses to China Telecom, China Mobile, China Unicom and China Radio and Television, which means that 5G commercials will be officially opened.

It is understood that China Mobile has launched 5G network scale trials in five cities including Hangzhou, Guangzhou, Shanghai, Wuhan and Suzhou. 5G service demonstration test network construction in 12 cities including Beijing, Chongqing, Tianjin, Shenzhen and Xiong’an, and 5G for 31 application scenarios such as mobile telemedicine, cloud robot, smart factory, smart campus, smart grid and high-definition cloud game Business demonstration.

In addition, the Southern Reporter was informed that China Unicom’s first list of 5G cities is consistent with China Mobile. In fact, as early as April 23, China Unicom Chairman Wang Xiaochu announced that China Unicom will open a 5G test network in 40 cities in China and released a “7+33+n” 5G network deployment strategy: 1. In Beijing, 7 cities in Shanghai, Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Nanjing, Hangzhou and Xiong’an are continuously covered; 2. Hotspot coverage is achieved in 33 cities; 3. Customized 5G network in n cities.

China Telecom has not disclosed the first list of 5G cities for the time being, but at the 5G Innovation Cooperation Conference in Shenzhen on April 26th, Ke Ruiwen, chairman and party secretary of Telecom, said that Telecom has now built SA (independent networking) as the main, SA /NSA (non-independent networking) hybrid network cross-provincial cross-domain scale trial network in Beijing, Shanghai, Chongqing, Guangzhou, Xiong’an, Shenzhen, Hangzhou, Suzhou, Wuhan, Chengdu, Fuzhou, Lanzhou, Qionghai, Nanjing 5 cities in Haikou, Yingtan and Ningbo carried out 5G scale testing and application demonstration. In the 2018 financial report, China Telecom also disclosed that it plans to invest 9 billion yuan to build 5G this year.
It is worth noting that in the list that has been disclosed by China Mobile and China Unicom, except for municipalities, Guangdong (Guangzhou, Shenzhen), Liaoning (Dalian, Shenyang), Zhejiang (Hangzhou, Ningbo, Wenzhou), Shandong (Jinan, Qingdao), Fujian (Fuzhou, Xiamen), Hainan (Qionghai, Haikou), Jiangxi (Yingtan, Nanchang), Hebei (Zhangjiakou, Shijiazhuang, Xiong’an New District), Jiangsu (Suzhou, Nanjing), there are more than two 5G cities in the nine provinces. There is only one in the rest.
